Being a leader of the Rebel Alliance is hard. It’s okay to say it! And keeping your Rebel members happy and engaged can be a time-consuming and data-intensive affair. Selecting the right membership software to help with the task can be just as time consuming and just as overwhelming. To make it easier for you (and Mon Mothma), here are six features the Rebel Alliance’s membership management software needs in order to facilitate a successful rebellion against the Galactic Empire. The User-Friendly Interface The user interface needs to be easy for both your administrators and your members to use. Everyone’s going to be interacting with the platform in some way, and just because a Jedi Master can put in the time to learn the ins and outs of the system doesn’t mean that Wookies will. We also know that not everyone grew up with droids that flawlessly and dynamically respond to complex voice commands; thus the User Interface must be easy to understand and simple to use. Mobile App Rebels don’t carry their protocol droids with them, but they always have their commlinks (phones). Your software needs to allow your members to stay connected to The Alliance directly from their smart phone, without thinking twice about it. If they need to plug their droid into a flight computer every time they want to share details of their Rebel experience, it’s never going to happen! Social Media Integration The universe doesn’t just operate off of email. Heck, even Yoda’s only been posting to Facebook for close to a decade now! Your software can’t become one with the Force, but it has to be well connected to social media. It should be easy for your members to share their participation in various events and campaigns while enabling Rebel leaders to easily post activity onto multiple social networks. Profile Updates Members need to be able to update their profiles without having to rendezvous with their commanders. The lower the threshold for getting updated information, the stronger your member database will be. Capturing Death Star schematics is meaningless if you’re sending battle plans to dead email addresses. Recurring Membership Dues Keep momentum on your side – instead of asking your members to routinely opt in, your software needs to allow for automatic recurring membership levels. What if it comes time to renew and the Rebels are out playing with Ewoks? Use recurring dues to take the risk for a lapsed membership off the table and be sure your system has the capability to send automatic reminders and even alert leaders of members who may have lapsed. Membership Levels Not all of your members are the same, and your software should be able to treat them differently. This is a common problem that’s often overlooked by membership management software, so make sure that whoever you end up going with knows the difference between monthly or annual weekend warriors and professional infantry, pilots, and commanders. The software should allow different levels of access and perks to members at discrete levels More? What else do you need to lead a successful multi-planetary rebellion against a despotic galactic government? Add your thoughts in the comments!
