When it comes to school events, we know it can be difficult staying organized and managing communication. memberplanet is the perfect tool to keep you on track. In fact, we created it with you in mind! Many of our features and upgrades have been developed as custom solutions for our education clients.

For example, our Packets feature (a bundle of online forms) was created for a school district who needed a streamlined, paperless, and cost-effective registration process for parents. But memberplanet has more to offer than registrations. We  want to ensure our school clients can stay active year-round on our platform.

Here are the ways schools make the most of memberplanet:
Event Sites
Whether you're hosting a carnival,  homecoming dance,  PTA dinner, or school play, there are so many tasks to complete:
creating a custom event page, emailing invitations, selling tickets, monitoring guest lists, etc. Sound like a lot, huh? Well no worries. memberplanet's Event Site feature can help you tackle it all in no time!
Custom Newsletters
Keep parents and faculty in the loop! Our custom newsletters are a professional and cost-effective solution for maintaining communication. Manage tracking, post button links, schedule future letters, and save your templates to save time.
Broadcasts
Need to send parents a quick reminder, or info about a cancellation? Any last minute delays?
memberplanet
makes it easy to quickly send a text message to some or all of your members.
We provide your group with a free local number that your members can save to their contacts.
Online Forms
Look, we know you have a life and don't want to spend all day devising forms. Our Online Forms are simple to create and flexibly accommodate any type of data collection. Even better, they are 100% white label,  export seamlessly to Excel, and offer a competitive transaction rate for online payments. Unsure of the best way to efficiently capture the data you want? Our support team will walk you through the creation process to build the best form for your needs.
Donation Sites
Looking to bring laptops to your school? Want to hear to hear that amazing public speaker that children love?  We offer competitively priced online Donation Sites so you can raise money for any need.
Database Management
Your school rosters can sometimes feel like a revolving door, requiring constant maintenance and can oftentimes be out of date. memberplanet makes it easy to collect and sync information, and even allows for parents to submit and update their information independently. Distribution lists allow you to bundle your members into lists specific to their roles for targeted communication.
Transferring Leadership Roles
Once your
memberplanet account is up and running, you can easily pass the torch from one administrator to another. Unlike other sites that tie the login to the primary creator's email address, memberplanet anchors to the group name, allowing you to pass administrative rights to another user, or even have multiple admins manage different aspects of your group.
Collaboration
Organizations like PTA, Boosters, ASB, etc., have committees, which makes tackling things like fundraisers easier (Amiright?!).
memberplanet allows you to collaborate with these groups by sharing specified data or combining forms for a shared registration packet.
Photosharing
So, that huge event you'd been planning for weeks is finally over and you LOVE the photos and can't wait to share them with the group. memberplanet allows you to host and share full pixel quality photos and albums. You can upload images to a new album within your group. Even better, now you can email the photos to an address assigned specifically to your group which allows you to crowd-source photos from everyone at the event.

Broadcast

Leaders have the ability to send SMS and email announcements your entire group right from the app. Broadcasts are a simple and convenient way to reach everyone in just a few clicks.

Newsfeed

The feed is your source for all updates. It populates with new Surveys, Events, Donation Sites and Emails in real time. Each item can be opened, viewed and shared socially right from the app. You can even make payments on-the-go with your credit card! Feed filters let members instantly view upcoming Events on the group Calendar and photo albums.

Collect and Make Payments

Administrators can scan cards using the phone’s camera to allow both members and non-members to make payments. Accept donations or sign-ups at your next meeting and events! Members can even scan their own cards on the app to register for upcoming events or make donations.

Get Reminders

Notifications let you know that you have news or an outstanding action item, like a required payment. When you respond to an item, it will disappear from your notifications.

History

The history feature keeps track of all of your past actions on memberplanet. You can always check here to see where you've donated, registered for an Event or submitted a survey response.

Favorites Feed

If you are a member of multiple groups on memberplanet, you can view group feeds independently or as a combined feed. This is a great way to keep scheduling straight with a synthesized Calendar.

Share the App

Simply send a Broadcast announcement notifying members about the  app - all Broadcasts automatically include download links on both email and SMS platforms.

Write an Effective Newsletter in 6 Quick Steps

How do you develop a newsletter campaign that won’t land in junk mail?

Most organizations utilize the email marketing strategy simply because they have been told that it’s good for business. It is good for business, but only if you believe in it and are dedicated to providing your customers with engaging content that they want to receive.

A successful email newsletter campaign requires a shift in thinking. Instead of telling your customers about your latest promotion, use email marketing to engage your community. This means providing valuable content, just not content in volumes. If you’re not sure where to start, walk through the following steps.

Who you will send your email newsletter to

Who is your target audience? Is it readers who are already customers? Suppliers? Employees? Once you know who you are sending your email newsletters to, you can focus on ways to grow your list. This includes giving away something for joining, promoting on social media or, if time is of the essence, purchasing a list.

What format will you use

Once you know who you are sending your newsletters to, you’ll want to decide on a template that you can flip copy in and out of with each newsletter. This largely depends on the system you choose as each service has different constraints for your template design. You’ll want to make sure your template is optimized for mobile and reflects your brand’s overall look and feel.

Create your content calendar

You want to make sure the content you’re sending out is diversified, relevant, and timely. The only way to do this strategically is to map out what you plan to say before you start saying it. Do you have new promotions? Upcoming events? Do you want to highlight an employee or new recipe? Create a content calendar with the frequency and topics of each of your newsletter campaigns at least one or two months out, before you launch, to make sure you’re producing relevant content that tells a story.

Create an exciting headline and subject line

If your subject line doesn’t grab your reader’s attention, they won’t open it. Include a hook with a benefit. This hook will provide an impact if it answers a question or evokes an emotion. The more personalized and relevant your subject line, the better chance you have for someone to want to read your email.

Make it actionable

No matter what your newsletter entails, it should always end with a call to action. Do you want your audience to purchase something, read something, or share on social media? Decide on one call to action per newsletter and make it easy for your readers to follow through with. Include phrases like “Click here to…” and don’t be afraid to mention it more than once within the email. Most readers won’t read the entire email, so don’t save it for last!

Check before you click

Just one typo or blurry image can change your reader’s attention and tarnish your credibility. Always test your newsletter to make sure everything works properly and nothing is spelled wrong. This last step can sometimes be the most important.

You shouldn’t have to be a programmer to build a professional newsletter that you can be proud of. Some of these steps can be eliminated with a single, integrated email service such as memberplanet.

With memberplanet, you can choose a template and color palette and get your message out in minutes. Like what you’ve made? Save it as a custom template and use it over and over again. Want to see if your newsletter was effective? Our live reporting shows you how many people have opened your emails, who clicked on your links and tips on how to better reach your audience. We've released a brand new feature! The Interactive Member Directory is now live on memberplanet. This has been among our most-requested feature updates to-date and we are thrilled to announce that it's here!

In the past, we've always made it easy for leaders to connect with members, but now, the all-new Interactive Directory makes it easy for members to connect with each other. Using the directory, members are able to send emails, connect on social media, view shared upcoming events, and more.

We encourage you to log on and explore, but if you're curious, below is a comprehensive list of all the new features.  And as always, with the help of your suggestions, this list is sure to grow!

The Interactive Directory

Like a paper directory, admins and members are listed alphabetically according to the first letter of their last names, making it easy for members to find and contact one another. Similar to admins, members can log on from their member portals to access it by clicking Directory in their left-side main menus. Narrow a search by clicking on a letter from the alphabet above.

Custom Interactive Directory Access

As an admin, you can make the directory available to all members, no members, or only specific member levels or member types. This is a great way to add value to a paid membership!

Members can view each other's profile pages

Members can view the profile page of any other member, including any background info that the member has chosen to share. But of course, members can selectively show or hide any field in privacy settings!

Members can contact each other

Admins and members can send emails to one another through the directory. Emails will be delivered to the member's personal email address, but it will not expose personal email addresses to either sender or receiver.

Members can view shared upcoming events

When viewing another member's profile page, if the member you are viewing has also RSVP'd "yes" to an upcoming event that you have also RSVP'd "yes" to, then that event will be listed on the lower left hand side of his/her directory page when viewed through your account.

Social media content is automatically pre-populated

When you log on, you'll notice that many members already have profile pictures and links to social media accounts. This data has been sourced from publicly available social media accounts associated with member email addresses. Like everything else on memberplanet, members can customize which social data is shown or utilized on memberplanet.

Members can connect on social media

As per above, social media account links are automatically added to members directory profile pages, enabling members to search each other via the memberplanet Interactive Directory and connect on other platforms. Additional accounts can be added on your member profile page under "Basic Info", and existing links can also be removed on your member profile page.

Member Badges

Admins can add custom labels to specific members profile images to denote specific roles that can be viewed by other members. These "badges" will appear as labels overlaying the member's image in the directory view.
